A magnificent replica and an impressive addition to your collection!

The Dimetrodon lived during the Permian period, around 295–272 million years ago, earlier than dinosaurs!  It’s actually not a dinosaur, belonging to a group of ancient reptiles called “synapsids”.  Although it may not look it, the Dimetrodon is more closely related to mammals than to dinosaurs.  It’s evolutionary path actually led towards mammals!  It was certainly impressive with its huge dorsal “sail” and powerful jaw.  This animal looks like a huge lizard with a wing maintained by long bony spines, rising vertically above each vertebra. It is hypothesized that this sail was potentially used for thermoregulation, and social signaling.  Dimetrodon could regulate his body temperature, warming or cooling his body according to his habitat. This formidable carnivore measured about 11 feet and could reach impressive speeds despite his short legs.  The Dimetrodon figurine is equipped with an articulated jaw to admire its many teeth of different sizes!  The figurine is highly detailed with a natural color-scheme that replicates the real animal, making the figure extremely realistic looking.
